Who we are

The energy arm of Solico Group in Central Asia

Sonergy is the power-generation brand of Solico Group — one of the region's largest food and industrial groups, with US$1 billion+ annual revenue and 30,000+ employees worldwide. Sonergy operates 14+ MW of power assets, including a fleet of eight medium-speed gas engines, giving it deep, hands-on experience in captive power and industrial energy.

Sonergy LLP (ТОО «Sonergy»), registered in Almaty in July 2026 (BIN 260740016836), brings this operating track record to the Kazakh market — anchored by Solico's flagship food-manufacturing investment in Konaev, Almaty Region.

Flagship project

Konaev Hybrid IPP

A 53 MW hybrid independent power plant combining solar, gas and battery under Kazakhstan's Hybrid Group framework (2024 RES Law amendment) — with a captive PPA and industrial heat supply to the adjacent Sofood Kaz dairy plant.

25 MWp Solar

Utility-scale PV engineered for the high-irradiance Almaty Region climate — clean daytime energy at the lowest cost.

28 MW Gas CHP

Four 7 MW medium-speed gas engines in combined heat & power mode — 28 MW electric plus 22 MW‑th of process heat for industry, firm around the clock.

50 MWh Battery

Grid-scale energy storage for peak shifting, solar firming and premium capacity-market value.

Anchored Demand

Long-term captive PPA and heat offtake with the Sofood Kaz dairy plant — bankable, contracted revenue from day one.

The hybrid model

Solar, gas and battery — working as one

Solar carries the day, the battery bridges the evening peak, and gas CHP provides firm power and industrial heat around the clock. One integrated plant, dispatched as a single system — reliability of gas, economics of solar, flexibility of storage.

One day at the Konaev hybrid IPP, hour by hour — how solar, gas CHP and the battery share the dairy's power and steam load

What the video shows — one summer day, hour by hour

  1. 02:30
NightThree gas engines carry the dairy and their exhaust heat raises the steam. Nothing is drawn from the grid.
  2. 06:24
DawnThe solar trackers wake up and the control system (EMS) eases the engines back.
  3. 07:36
A third engine stands downSolar now covers everything the dairy needs beyond two engines. Engine 3 stops and the surplus starts charging the battery.
  4. 12:30
Battery full — surplus to the gridWith the battery full, the surplus is exported to the grid on a declared schedule. The boiler keeps the steam side whole.
  5. 14:15
A cloud passesSolar drops 60% in minutes. The battery fills the gap in under a second — the engines, the export schedule and the dairy see nothing.
  6. 17:30
The battery takes the eveningAs the sun fades, two engines stay on and the battery discharges stored solar — no third engine, no extra gas.
  7. 19:15
Evening peakLoad tops 21 MW: 14 MW from two engines and 7 MW from the battery. The boiler tops up the steam.
  8. 21:21
Grid fault — the plant islandsThe 110 kV line trips. The plant separates from the grid and keeps running on engines and battery. For the dairy, nothing changes.
  9. 23:27
Reserve reached — engine 3 returnsThe battery keeps a 30% reserve for faults and ramps. The third engine takes the night load; the fourth stands by.
  10. 23:50
Ready for tomorrowZero grid import for the whole day. The cycle starts again at sunrise.

Illustrative summer day for the planned configuration: 25 MWp solar, 25 MW / 50 MWh battery, 4 × 7 MW gas engines and a 15 t/h peak boiler. Actual results depend on the final design, the dairy's load profile and tariffs.

Grid & national value

Good for the grid. Good for Kazakhstan.

Southern Kazakhstan is the country's most power-short zone, and demand there is growing fastest. A hybrid plant built next to its industrial customer helps on both counts: it takes a large, round-the-clock load off the grid, and it sends the grid only what it can schedule.

For the grid — AZhK and KEGOC

Takes a growing load off the grid

The dairy's power and steam are made on site, around the clock and through the evening peak. Network capacity stays free for homes and other users, and less energy is lost in transmission.

Solar the grid doesn't have to balance

Stand-alone solar and wind need backup from the system operator every time their output swings. Here the battery and engines absorb the swings inside the fence, so the grid only receives scheduled exports.

Stays up when the grid trips

If the 110 kV line fails, the plant islands and keeps the dairy running, then reconnects in a controlled way — no sudden block of load for the grid to pick up when it comes back.

Flexible capacity in the south

28 MW of fast-starting gas engines and a 25 MW battery sit in the zone that is shortest of manoeuvrable capacity. Within the market rules, that flexibility can also serve the system operator.

For Kazakhstan

New capacity where it's needed

The plant adds generation in the Almaty Region, inside the southern zone that relies on transfers from the north and on imports — supporting the national goal of closing the power deficit.

More from every cubic metre of gas

Engine heat becomes steam for pasteurising, UHT and cleaning, and solar lets engines stand down at midday — less gas per unit of useful energy, in a region where gas supply is limited.

Cleaner power for industry

Designed to supply at least 25% of the dairy's yearly consumption from solar, displacing grid power that is still around three-quarters thermal — in line with Kazakhstan's 2060 carbon-neutrality strategy.

Energy-secure food production — a model to repeat

A major dairy keeps producing through grid faults and shortages. Sonergy builds, owns and operates the plant, and the same model fits any energy-intensive factory in Kazakhstan.
